Tech Preview Release Date Announced

Tue Nov 21, 2006, 1:24 PM
From the Desk of Matt Fairclough\Planetside Software:

Hello,

On behalf of the Planetside Software team I'm pleased to announce the
release date for the Terragen 2 Technology Preview. We'll be making it
available on December 15th, 2006 for both Windows and Mac OS X 10.4.x.

* Cutting-edge adaptive subdivision renderer.
* Modular, plugin-based architecture.
* Render entire planets, sweeping vistas, tiny rock gardens, or
anything in between.
* Import 3D objects for rendering. Export high resolution objects.
* Render millions of boulders or trees using "instancing".
* Add multiple heightfields to your scene. Use procedural terrains
that can span an entire planet.
* Apply almost "infinite" fractal detail to terrain and other objects.
* Overhanging terrain using procedural displacements, image-based
displacements, or imported geometry.
* Volumetric clouds or fast "2.5D" clouds.
* Production quality anti-aliasing and motion blur.
* Node graph editor for ultimate control over shaders and textures.

A version that is free for personal non-commercial use will be
available for everyone to download, but will require free registration
to gain access to the download. Licenses for commercial use will be
available for purchase. Pricing and further details will be available
upon release.

(Future versions including the release version may not be available
under these terms, and the free version may be subject to additional
time and feature restrictions which can be removed when you purchase a
commercial license.)
